Armed Suspects Bio
ARMED SUSPECTS are a four-piece Oi!/Streetpunk band from Middletown, NY. Composed of Jay on mic duty, DJ on guitars, Violence on the bass and Brian on the skins, these blue-collar thugs seek to combine a brutal concoction of melodic riffs, driving basslines and pounding drums with introspective and intelligent lyrics delivered with the ferocity of a bulldog in heat. Songs about working class struggles, lost souls, lost hope and lost love permeate their catalog as well as songs about friendship, loyalty, drinking and kicking the occasional ass.
Having drawn comparisons to Rancid, Swingin Utters, the Beltones, Stiff Little Fingers and The Clash to name a few, ARMED SUSPECTS have played legendary stages like CBGBs in NYC, The Sidebar in Baltimore & Valentines in Albany as well as countless other smaller venues throughout the East Coast alongside the likes of The Beltones, Defiance, Pist-N-Broke, Demob, The Krays, Donnybrook, E-Town Concrete, The Casualties, Hub City Stompers, Blood Or Whiskey, Urban Riot, Broken Heroes, Weekend Warriors and many other great national and international acts. With upcoming slots on the East Coast Oi Fest in Allentown, PA, in April and plans to tour this summer, Armed Suspects are spreading their brand of street ruck'n'roll and leaving a trail of satisfied fans in their wake.
Review of "Next Stop, New Scene" in Maximum Rock n Roll
Good straight-up punk from New York state, few frills and less pretense. ARMED SUSPECTS reminds me of a cross between THE PIST and the PINK LINCOLNS. (AD)
Review of split 7 inch with the Skels on www.sleazegrinder.com
"On the flipside of the banana/cherry popsicle record are a couple of songs by Orange Countys Armed Suspects. They advertise themselves as an anti-racist punk band, which is cool. They do not, however, mention anything about being an anti-violence punk band. Which is also cool, because, after listening to these songs, I found myself in the mood for a good old-fashioned knuckle-buster. Which, I think, might be what OFarrells is about-it was kind of hard to tell. But, trust me, with hooks this catchy, indiscernible lyrics really dont matter. So throw this record on and come meet me in the alley. And dont forget your bat."
